The ensemble bears the name of Sumerian goddess Ereshkigal. This sovereign of underworld belongs to the strongest, most independent and powerful women of Babylonian pantheon. Due to her ambivalent and elusive nature she does not fit into any certain category.
Correlating with the complex character of mythic Ereshkigal, these dancers show a wide spectrum of expression, from charming, strong, tender or dark to clownish.
